View Full Version : Template "Save As"

I don't have access to DreamWeaver at home - only at the office. What I do have access to is the website host's downloading and uploading of files capabilities.

My problem is that instead of using "File>New from Template" in Dreamweaver, can I instead just do a "Save As" of the template file and rename it to something else? And in this way can I then just add stuff to the new file ( which ofcourse should already have stuff from the template)?

Thanks, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Don't do a save as… of a template (.dwt)file. That will include some unwanted markup and make it work incorrectly if it's opened again in Dreamweaver.

If it's your only option, you cam save as… a file created from the template (it will already be an .html or .htm file rather than a .dwt file). Then edit the new file being careful only to edit inside the editable regions (marked by comments in the code) if it will be used back in Dreamweaver at a later time.
