I often need to unlink a portion of a link, but not all of it, to set a certain word in another color. Is there a key command I can use to unlink only a porton of the linked item (to be clear, if the Link text says "This is the link - Alert" and I want only to unlink "- Alert" to set it in another color without the link). In other html editors you can just sweep the portion of the linked text and key command UNLINK and that portion will return to an unlink state. Remove link in my drop down menus is usually greyed out, if only a portion of the linked text is selected. I use Dreamweaver MX. (2006).

Any help would be greatly appreciated (this forum rocks!)

Ctrl+Shift+L/Command+Shift+L works as you want in later versions of Dreamweaver. I don't know about MX.

In MX it unlinks the entire linked text, even if just one portion or letter is selected. Oy! But, thanks!

Go into code view and move the closing </a> to suit.
