View Full Version : restrict access to a folder

just a question. I want to know if its possible to restrict access to a folder rather than just a file? I want users to be able to move freely between the pages in the folder but as soon as they leave the folder it wont allow them to use the browser back button to go back into the folder without logging back in.
Now I know there is an app called "no way back" which wont allow users to go back to a particular page - but can the same be done with a folder? If so how please?

Thanks Antony

You could do that using .htaccess

You should do this in the application code

I still havent figured this out completely. However what I have done till I understand it properly is to put the files I want to restrict in a folder, then when the user has finished in that section of the folder there is a link on the pages to take them back outside the folder to a single location. This page has the browser back button disabled and on leaving the previous said page(s) the user gets logged out.
It may not be good practice but it works at the moment untill I understand the process better.
