My website in dreamweaver CS3 uses a template for all it's pages. Currently 728 pages. When I see the site in IE, every page has the same meta name keywords which are written into the template. Please could someone tell me how to have more targetted keywords into each individual page?

Meta keywords, which BTW are ignored by all the major search engines, are automatically placed in an editable region in Dreamweaver templates. So you can edit them on a page-by-page basis in the code.

So I take it, there isn't much point doing anything with this?

Some people don't care to include them at all.
Other include them, on the premise that it can't hurt.
I think you should either remove them, or make a custom one for each page.
Having the exact same for each page has zero benefits.

Keywords, no. However meta-descriptions while not particularly useful for search results do serve a purpose.

Actually some of my SEO friends do claim keywords serve a purpose. They inform your competitors of the search terms you are targeting.
