View Full Version : Easily create a page for each record of a database

Ok, so I need to create about 40,000 pages, one for each product. I have a database of all of the information for each product (description, image name, SKU, etc).

What I need is a way to generate a template with variables where the information changes. Then have Dreamweaver create a page for each record pulling in those values as it goes along.

Anyway to do this?

no you need a page with a variable select statement. pass a value to the page possibly using $_GET, then make your select
select * from Table where field = $select.
$ select being the passed value

How would that create multiple pages and increment for each page?

EDIT: Are you running this through one page then passing it off to the next?

Let me try to explain it a little better. I need a create product detail pages for about 40,000 products.

Example of product details: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-Nautilus-3in1-Car-Bravo/8112222

Right now I have a database which contains the information for each item.

SKU Name Price
1236 Speaker 2.62
5489 Drink 23.64
9875 Phone 13.15

So obviously in a smaller sized product list I could just make 3 identical pages and change the price / name / sku for each item. However, since I am dealing with so many items that would be horrible.

I was wondering if there was some way to automate this.

Perhaps using php to generate the code then create an html page for each record is what I was thinking though I'm not sure how to do this in php.

no i was right criteria that is asked /searched for grabbing the info dynamically.
i cant see why you would want to create 40 000 separate pages
. but frankly this is describing a shopping cart i would think.

Do you have a link that would describe this better?
