View Full Version : Re: Back With More Questions!

Hi Guyz,

Took me a while to find my way back here but here I am with a whole new set of questions.

Thx for diving in and please be reminded that big noob here that doesn't know much about code yet in comparison to the amount of buttons learned in the past few weeks.

So, ready to get blasted?

1. My most dreaded problem.
If you visit my site, and press [stills], you will see that my menu (div field?) shifts its position. If it doesn't do it on the first go, it will eventually if you click on something else on the menu and then again on [stills]. Kinda weird.

2. Well, my second most dreaded problem.
In the stills menu again, the third image does not open with Safari. Just shows a blank page. I first noticed it on an iphone but eventually I came across it on an imac/safari.

3. Yeah, I got one more dreaded one. I visited my site with Internet Explorer and it seems that it cannot read .png files, resulting to a disastrous gray area covering the alpha channel. This is really pathetic. Any ideas?

4. It would be really cool if someone could share how to put that tiny thumbnail on the left of the browsers' url field and what pixel dimensions. That would be reeeeaaaly cool.

5. If you already checked my videos out, you would have surely noticed the very generic DW player I have used, but simultaneously, the only that fitted color-wise. Any chance anybody knows how to replace the image files of the player with my own? Kind of a reverse engineering extra curriculum activity since no great knowledge of flash yet.

6. If anyone has the time or the interest to give me some extra advice such as how to make my pages look more professional in the web-design field and how things should be arranged or such, I would really appreciate it. I can even repay with graphics services if requested.

Many thanks again!! All your help until now has been more than valuable!!

Apologies again mods for not being able to compress 6 questions into one title!

first point i would make is before you conyinue , put all your styles in the style sheet , it will be clearer later on and avoid conflicts. you already have 2 body attributes also a repeated italic class.
also this
.twoColElsLtHdr #container #mainContent h2 {
font-weight: normal;
.twoColElsLtHdr #container #mainContent h2 {
font-weight: bold;
.twoColElsLtHdr #container #mainContent h2 {
font-weight: bold;

which is it you want? this wont answer your points but best to do it now .
re png there is a 'fix' for this and a link has ben posted here so do a search on the forum.

the little image is called a favicon and is explained in a sticky at the start of this forum section (or maybe html)

Apologies again mods for not being able to compress 6 questions into one title! No problems, although I still think you will have had more success if you try to describe the issue in the thread title. 8)

1 The menu looks like its working fine to me, all of the images are moving in the same way.

2 not sure, maybe try uploading the page again? if you havent already

3 could be wrong but i think there are posts on here if you search for "png fix", or try google.

4 thats an .ico, you can download something that will allow you to save images in .ico from photoshop... cant think of the name of the site, but google seldom forgets.

5 im a sucker for lightbox and fancybox (http://videobox-lb.sourceforge.net/) style viewers...

6 i really like your logo graphic. The only thing that really jumps out at me is maybe aligning the menu with the left side of the logo would make it look more cohesive?

Hi everybody!!!

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond and apologies for late response, it has been a rough week around here. Though I noticed that no info of responses has been sent via email and I saw your responses by just checking in 'cause it seemed wierd to have no replies.

Anyways, I will be looking into all of your advice later tonight, (hooray saturday) and will revert with personal thank you's to each and every one of you, and maybe some extra questions as well.

Many cheers again,
