Hi all! I'm a PC technician with a lot of pre-press experience. Due to the lack of jobs, I'm hoping to pick up some web design work. I've been flirting with html/css/DW for awhile but now I'm serious, damn it. I've purchased a book; Mastering CSS with DW CS3 and am currently on page 69... a good page to be on?. Anyway, I find it very well written and enlightening, but hard.

As I'm going through the book, I'm putting up a website. I started with a one column fixed layout and I want to build from there. I did this because I don't have much to say at the moment so less is more. As I define my business, I will add it to the site. Is this a good approach? Thanks.

Hi xrayhit, and welcome to DWC.

In my experience I find it better to have a good long term idea of what you want to achieve. It can be hard to adapt a site and add things later. Maybe build something that will do for now and then build something better as your skills grow.

Good luck, you are in the right place for all the help you need.

Regards, Paul
