I have been sifting through tutorials for a few days now, and am at my wits end. My goal is to maintain 1/2 of my page, with menus and headers etc... and have them, their links, be able to change a sliced portion of the page. Its hard to convey what i mean, so i will post an example. any direction really appreciated.

I have no clue what you mean and what you want to achieve. The example is just an ordinary website build.

ok click on anyone of the links on the sidebar to the left. When clicked, it doesnt go to a new page, or is seems it doesnt. it simply changes the info on a designated region of the page. how?

I tried it and it just loads whatever page the link is for just as a normal site would!!

Watch the title bar at the top of your browser and you will see it change to the page that you have clicked the link of!!

Ahaaa... the reason why it looks like it loads only the content is because all the graphics are cached by your browser when you visit a page on that website and the layout is for every page the same. So if you go to another page your browser doesn't have to load all the graphics again.

Like Tux said, check your address bar when you click on a link.
