I was hoping for someone to point out what the problem could be with regards to the way the layout changes when viewed with Internet Explorer. I used Browershots and the screen shot of IE7 shows the title bar beneath the main content whilst with older versions of IE the main right hand column drops below the level of the bottom of the menu. (see attached)

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

not sure if this is the answer but you have multiple id's use class instead

<ul id="nav">
<li id="menu_active"><a href="index1.htm">Home</a></li>
<li id="menu"><a href="english-courses.htm">English Courses</a></li>
<li id="menu"><a href="start-package.htm">Start Package</a></li>
<li id="menu"><a href="flight-planner.htm">Flight Organiser</a></li>
<li id="menu"><a href="about-bristol.htm">About Bristol</a></li>
<li id="menu"><a href="contact.htm">Contact Us</a></li>
<img src="img/associated-logos.jpg" alt="Associated logos" name="associatedlogos" width="186" height="278" id="associatedlogos" />
</ul>

Instead of floating your #content div right and setting the width try just giving it a left-margin:

#content {
margin-left: 200px;
padding-bottom: 10px;
}

The margin will get it out from under the sidebar and letting it find it's own width will prevent the wrap (although the width you have in #leftcol may be causing problems as well.

TBH, your page structure is kind of confused.
