I have one page within a web site that I have protected with a username and password, courtesy of the site's hosting service C/Panel. This works well enough.

Now I want to receive advice by some other "invisible" fashion (to the user) of when the he or she accesses this protected page.

The only reason for this is to ensure me that the user has in fact read any new (and important) document(s) that appear on the updated web site page.

Does anybody have any information on how I can go about doing this?

Cheers to all.

if you have restricted access via cpanel im guessing you are using htacces. is there just 1 password?
it may be possible to use javascript to log an ip address.
it would also be possible to use a php login system with a database and have a field for member login

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have four usernames and passwords with more to follow when users come on board as new franchisees.

I did consider using php and a db, but I couldn't even get a "log in" page to work, that's why I guess I opted for the easy way out.

I even tried using Frontpage's forms, but that was pretty ordinary!

I really need to learn more coding, etc., but I'm way too old for that.

Thanks again for your help.
