Hello,

Im currently working through a CSS book that has been great.
But ive come to a part of the book about quirks mode. It goes through a list of different DOCTYPE Statements, and im not really understanding it.

I was just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction and advise what i should be setting my doc type as.

The book lists various examples eg.
HTML 4.01 Transitional
HTML 4.01 Frameset
HTML 1.0 Strict
HTML 1.0 Transitional
HTML 1.0 Frameset
HTML 1.0 Strict
HTML 1.1

I use always the XHTML 1.0 Strict document type.

What you should use depends on what you want with the website you're working on.
More info about setting the right document type can be found here:

and
