Does anyone know what the best path to take in order to become a web designer? I'm sure some of you on here already do this for a living!
I can't find any recognised qualifications in web design. Is the best way just to train yourself & go freelance?

Hey.... many web designers like me had learned by ourselves... buying books, googling and just trying out. You may star first learning Photoshop, then Flash and later Dreamweaver. But also learning HTML (XHTML) and CSS is very fundamental in understanding about web sites and they work. I'm a freelancer and i live with it.

Chapo is right. You can learn pretty much all you need to off the net. You could take a course in DW (and there are some good ones) and that will accelerate your learning. Best advice...do a small business course. Far more valuable when freelancing or running your own business.
