I've just got a copy of dreamweaver and am building my site. I used to do this stuff on the side back before css etc and used tables to layout my site.

Would I still use tables to seperate my banner image from my "menu" below and split different articles on my page or would I do ALL of this in CSS now????

how do I make a div sit inside another div? yet make the "parent" div expand or shrink depending on what is in it at the time? i.e. height="98%" in tables

Div's will automatically expand vertically based on the amount of content placed inside them. Generally you just need to specify a width.

By default a div has no height and will be 100% of the browser window width.
Height will increase as content is added and the width can be controlled by specifying your desired width using px's, em's or %'s.

Px's are usually used to keep a specific width.
Em's are used to assist a width based on the individuals personal settings.
Percentages will let the div expand or contract depending on the browser settings.
