Yes, use conditional statements to link in an IE specific stylesheet

http://www.quirksmode.org/css/condcom.html

I do it for my site and IE6

I build for compliant browsers and then work backwards with conditional statements if I need to.

Try adding...

allowTransparency="true"

To your iframe code...

var iframesrc="news.html"
document.write('<iframe id="datamain" src="'+iframesrc+'" width="181px" height="120px" marginwidth="1" marginheight="1" hspace="0" vspace="0" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>')

Also try using background-color: none; as well as 'transparent'.
