In no other browsers is this an issue but I forced the overflow on the wrapper div to make it surround the whole page and I have a dirty great scrollbar on the right hand side of the design in IE8!!!!

http://steelpress.net/projects/marion_k/index.php

It is fine in FF, Chrome, Opera, Flock, IE7 & 6!!

Please don't tell me I am back to using clear fixes or even creating hacks for IE8.

Anyone else had trouble with this?

overflow: hidden
You should never use 'auto' to make the wrapper clear it content. 8)

Just a little info for everybody. If you have troubles with ie8 and don't want to go through the trouble of having to do a bunch of hacks (I hate hacks)

You can use this meta tag.
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=EmulateIE7" />Makes ie8 mimic ie7

I've checked my entire arsenal of tricks, tweaks, witches brew and virtual explosive devices, I've come up empty.
Guess all we can do is follow Corrosive and dream.
