Friends

I need to set up connection between Dreamwever site and SQL Server 2005 database. My connection String is like this

Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;
Integrated Secutity=SSPI;
Persist Security Info=False;
Initial Catalog=CostAccounting;
Data Source=kmatepe-pc

Every time I hit the test button, I get this error

HTTP Error code 404 File Not Found. Possible reasons.

1. there is no testing server running on the server machine.
2. The testing server specified for this site does not map to the http://localhost/MyApp/_mmServerScripts/MMHTTPDB.asp url . Verify That the URL Prefix maps to the root of the site.

I have installed Abyss Web server.
I am not sure what to do anymore.

You should have setup a testing server. The right platform either ASP/MS SQL or PHP/MySQL

Is it in your local machine or in a remote location?

My connection string is as follow:

"Provider=sqloledb; Data Source=111.111.111.111,1433; Network Library=DBMSSOCN; Initial Catalog=dbname; User ID= yourusername; yourPassword;"

that works for me. Also, go to http://www.connectionstrings.com
they have a wealth of resources for this stuff.

Hope it helps,

Javier

I am not sure which testing server to set

this is what I always do in Dreamweaver

Site - Manage Sites -Advanced tab- Testing server
and do the following

Server model = ASP.NET C#
Access Local/Network
Testing server folder C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\MyApp\
URL prefix http://localhost/MyApp/

Well, I guess I should have asked what kind of ASP were You using. Unfortunately I have not used ASP.NEt C#. Also, DWCS4 has no support for it or if it has, I do know how to work it. I would imagine that using Visual Web Developer would be a better fit. It is free and can be downloaded.

Hope that helps.
