Why does IE hate me....

I alway struggle to get my CSS items to work correctly across all platforms.

They always run perfectly in Safari and Firefox, but if they are okay in IE6 AND 7 they are incorrect in IE8 and vice versa.

Is this a common problem?

Yes my designers have always been complaining about this... To avoid such situations now I ask them to create different css for different browsers..At the end of the work, more than 6-7 css could be found...In other Programming Discussion (http://www.codersforum.com/) you may find the php codes as well to retrieve the respective css by detecting the browser... I will ask my coders to help you with the codes..

You don't really need PHP for this. You can use a conditional statement. Info here...

Sorry, I wasn't having a go. PHP can also be used for choosing stylesheets it's just that, if you are only having a couple, then conditional statements are easier.
