I need to know how do I freely place images in dreamweaver
trying to make a basic html website in mx 2004,

and when I try to type something and I need to get down 1 line by pressing enter, it skips line and goes down 2 lines instead, how do I sort this out

in dreamweaver you can hold shift and press enter this gives you a line break or <br> text here </br> for HTML or just text here </br> for XHTML

Correct use of <p> tags and other CSS methods for styling text should mean that <br> tags are pretty much redundant in 99% of cases. Formatting text in this way leaves horrendous amounts of superfluous code in your pages.

There is no closing tag for BR in either HTML or XHTML. </br> does not exist.

In HTML it's simple <br>
XHTML requires all tags to close, so you do it in the same tag: <br />
