View Full Version : How Do I Copy an Existing Page Using Special Path

I need to copy a few pages from my existing site in order to make a few changes to each. I tried opening the page I want to copy from and saved it with a different name. However the folder's name appears after my domain.

i.e. http://www.budgetsoftwarereviews.com/reviews/personalfinancesoftware.html (http://www.yourdomain.com/Keyword-Keyword.html)

I want to name the file without the folder's name in the middle as follows:

http://www.budgetsoftwarereviews.com/personalfinancesoftware.html (http://www.yourdomain.com/Keyword-Keyword.html)

What's the easiest way to do it?

I know I can just click File and then Save as Template, but then I'd need to specify areas of the template that can be modified, etc.

what you need to do is take personalfinancesoftware.html from the folder "reviews" and put it in your root folder. a more advanced way would be using mod_rewrite or .htaccess. Let me know if this helps.

Hi MagicPower,

I put the file in the Root folder, but now when I open it there are no graphics and the format has changed completely.

You need to move the file within Dreamweaver's File window and then let it update the links when it asks to.

If you've already moved it outside Dreamweaver, then move it back into the reviews folder outside of Dreamweaver.
Then open Dreamwever and, in the files window, move the file from its current folder (reviews) to the root folder. Allow Dreamweaver to update the links.

It's amazing how some things are so simple when you know what to do.
Otherwise, you spend hours online looking for answers.

This was easy and fast.

Thank you guys for the help!
