I have had this old version since the year 2003:
Macromedia Studio MX
which includes:
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX
Macromedia Flash MX
Macromedia Fireworks MX
Macromedia FreeHand
Macromedia ColdFusion MX server
Macromedia Extension Manager

how backwards am I, if I am going to start using it from now on?

Looking forward for your kind reply.

you posted i think that you are going to edit a site I think. this woud be fine to use. later updates have some features extra of course but i would not think an update will benefit you too much, you can always decide later and get a trial once you are more comfortable using the program

If you are only editing a site. Go for it. But if you're at all interested in designing sites you need to upgrade. MX isn't very good at CSS positioning and CSS in general. Also a couple of the behaviours from MX may break if you edit them in a later version.

Finally, compared to MX, CS4 is almost new program. So even if you do get comfortable with MX expect a learning curve if you decide to upgrade later.
