Hello i am new to dreamweaver and have spent the past 3 hours trying to find out how to place 3 tables next to each other on the same line. Every time i tried to do anything the tables would be one or two lines lower than the other. What can I do about this?

Cheers,

agree with Ed. You need to learn CSS and div based layouts from the start. Don't even touch tables.

try putting them into a fixed div, or put them with in another table. if only i could see how you want them to align or the design you are trying to achieve. Word of advice: tables are messy. i build my website on divs. 99% of it is divs.

and divs look cleaner on the code, and smaller!

Before this gets into a table v div issue. I will point out that the original poster never mentioned what the tables are going to be used for.

Use divs for layout.
Use tables for data.

Helpme11,

Are the tables for page layout or data?

you are quite right coloeagle. assumptioned jumped to as this is so common as you know. wrong of us( but i would still bet this is down to layout :))

Your probably right Ed. With the recent posts I just thought asking for clarification would be a good thing.

I'm still trying to figure out ANY reason for 3 tables side by side. Seems like divs or one table should be able to handle it.

3 divs floated left of each other n a table in each one of them or 1 table with 3 columns n in each colum put in a table.

I was wondering when the nested tables would show up.

If the 3 tables have tabular data in them, just apply the CSS right on the tables tags. No nested tables or div's needed. Nested tables is not the correct answer to any question afaik 8)

How about 'what's the worst way to lay out a website?'

How about 'what's the worst way to lay out a website?'I'm pretty sure using frames would be a tad worse ;)

Im using the tables to create a template for my website. Now it's not the first time people tell me to get straight into CSS. I wouldn't know the codes on placing three tables side side.

Give each table a width and float each of them to the left.
