the above link is to the home page of my website i just finished. i realize in internet explorer vs. mozilla firefox they positioning is different. i've noticed on my screen the positioning in firefox is perfect and IE just a tad off. on my girlfriends laptop it is way off center. is there something i've done wrong or a setting messed up on my computer/her laptop? please let me know as this is my website that i count on for bringing in new business.

thanks in advance.

It's really out of line on my PC. I'd suggest starting again and learning to use relative positioning on your divs. Steer clear of layers!

is there just a way to completely center all of the layers so regardless of the screen size it will always be in the middle? is there another way to do the same thing without using layers?

make a container or wrapper div and put your elements in that. frinstance
#wrapper{width:80%;
margins:auto; }
why would you want to do it another way?
