View Full Version : Iframe transparency/Opacity in IExplore/Opera

My iframes are transparent in Safari & Firefox, but not in IExplore or Opera. I want the body background to be visible under the text in the iframe. Both of the offending browsers display a white background. I have tried background-color: transparent; (which doesn't work) in both the main and iframe CSS in trying to resolve the problem. Does anyone have a solution? Thanks.

Does this help?

The following conditions must be met to define transparent content for inline floating frames.

The ALLOWTRANSPARENCY (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms533072%28VS.85%29.aspx) attribute, used with the IFRAME element, must be set to true.
In the IFRAME content source document, the background-color (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms530716%28VS.85%29.aspx) or BGCOLOR (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms533505%28VS.85%29.aspx) attribute of the BODY (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms535205%28VS.85%29.aspx) element must be set to transparent. From http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms537627%28VS.85%29.aspx

Your solution works perfectly. I had struggled with this for days and had reviewed everything I could find in the posts related to iframe opacity. Thank you so much for solving this DWcourse.
