I am a new dreamweaver user and have created a template and inserted text and my logo etc. However, on all pages that use the template I would also like to have an area with images. How do I create an editable area for images? Do I create a table? I am unable to position my cursor on the area I would like to place the images, to position a table. The cursor always jumps into the text box.

Thanks for the help!!!

tables are the devils toys. :) look in the code and position it there, better to use divs for layout

Thanks for the hint. I'm new to this and a bit clueless!

After I posted that message I used "Draw AP Div" and made it editable. Within that new area I inserted the images. It worked. However, when I hit F12 and look at the supposed web view, the images have X's through them and move. They are showing up in the sidebars....where they are not supposed to be etc. Why? Should I not have inserted them this way? What is wrong with my images and why are they X's. I've compressed them and made them web jpeg's.

Ahhh! Sorry, since I am clueless, I have limited code knowledge. How would I insert a command for a new editable region, in that area?

Thanks so so so muck for the help!

if the images arent showing then usuallyeither the paths are wrong or you havent uploaded them.
a common error with templates is that an image path from the template may be something like ../images/myimage.gif while in the actual page it would be images/myimage.gif
check that first

The code for the images reads:

/><img src="/images/web images/thumbnails/COMPRESSED/Shaker-black-and-white.jpg"

Is this correct? They are in the images/ web images etc. folder.

Should the F12 function show the images? Could the images be too large?

Thanks so much!!!

I realize that I eventually need to familiarize myself with divs and general code. However, right now I am attempting to quickly build a starter website- I have an impending deadline.

For this website I have watched tutorials and used starter css templates. So far its been very easy to position text, menus etc. However I have not been able to find the information of how to make images editable on a template? It seems like it would be a common question- most websites will change their images on unique pages.

Before I delve into code knowledge and divs, does anyone know an easy way to create the editable box for images on my template using the Design View? I promise codes are in my near future!!

A couple things that probably aren't your answer:

1. The space in the name of the web images folder can mess you up on certain systems.
2. Are all your jpgs RGB, CMYK jpgs won't display on some systems.

I am new too, so this could be nothing.
Did you set up default image folder when set up your site?
