Go to your template file with the .dwt extension. Highlight everything that is inside the opening and closing table tags. Don't highlight the tags themselves!

Then go to 'insert' and 'template object' and then 'editable region'. Name your editable region and you should be good to go.

Hope this helps.

I managed to do what i wanted by making 2 text zones editable so i could insert in that text boxes anything.
And in every page i inserted a table with how mane rows/columns i wanted.

I have a second question.
I made the template, but now i can't change the name of the pages.
(the names that apears in browser title bar)

How can i change the name?

Thanks.

Make the title tag an editable region...

<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
<title>Your Page Title Here</title>
<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->

in your template

This should make the page title changeable in every page.

The page title is editable by default in Dreamweaver templates so, if it's not, you may some other problems as well.

is not working.
if I enter:
<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
<title>Your Page Title Here</title>
<!-- InstanceEndEditable -->

all the following code gets grey (keywords, categories, etc) and the pages don't change their name.

what can i do, i'm trying for 2 days and nothing. it shouldn't be so hard to change a damn title. :(

No, you are right, it shouldn't. I'd tend to agree with DWCourse on this one. Looks like you may have some other issues to deal with. Have you read all the help files and manual when it comes to templates?

It's really hard for us to know what is wrong with templates as we can't see how you have them set up.

i finally managed to get it done.
how i've done. (i found on internet a lot of stuff and i improvized)
1 i opened the template
2 i added the following code:
<!-- #BeginEditable "doctitle" -->
<title>Luxury Wedding </title>
<!-- #EndEditable -->

(* i've inserted that code before but now working, but following the next steps it should work)

3 save as template
4 i saved in other location with an other name
5 i said not to update files.
6 i changed the template name from windows and i put it in the template folder removing the other one.

Well, as long as it is working...but step 5 seems to be a bit of a strange way to go. You really want to update other pages created from the template.

I'd test it along the way to make sure.

not sure why you didn't just put that code for the editable region in the original template, save and update?

When you save a page as as a template using menu File>Save As Template or create a new template by choosing menu File>New… and then making a choice from the Blank Template category, the code of the file contains the following lines a couple lines below the opening <head tag>:

<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
<title>Your Title Here</title>
<!-- TemplateEndEditable -->

If your template didn't have that something went wrong.

You make a new page from a template by choosing menu File>New and selecting your template from Page From Template category. (You DON'T create a new page by using the menu File/Save As… option).

If you've save your template correctly and created your page correctly, you can edit the title of the page by typing the new title in the box labeled Page Title in the workspace image I've attached.

Just to be absolutely clear, the title doesn't appear on your web page but only in the title bar at the top of your browser window.
