I am using dreamweaver CS4 and want assign a popup menu to a button, it was easy in MX 2004, but it is no longer an option of Tag inspector, Behaviors. I think I'm suppose to go to Insert, Spry, Menu Bar, but it is not the same format as the old Show Popup menu behavior, which was really easy to use, assign links, and modify.

I also understand that if I design a button/image using fireworks CS4, I can assign a behavior using the show popup menu feature, but then when I export or save the file to dreaweaver, the behavior doesn't work. Help!!!

It can't be that difficult, what am i doing wrong, where is the show popup menu behavior in dreaweaver CS4?

Thanks

Spry menus are the way to go in CS4. As you said, you can insert them from the Insert-Spry-Menubar palette. You can edit and add links in the Properties palette when the entire Spry Menubar selected.

You customize the look of Spry Menubars with CSS. Here are a couple of tutorials for customizing the menus: horizontal (http://cli.gs/pZ1GM8) and vertical (http://cli.gs/zv2aN4)

I checked the tutorials and they do cover horizontal and vertical menus..thanks...but there is no mention of the show pop-up menu behavior.

When I was using MX 2004, I would simply insert my button on the page, select the button, go to Tag Inspector-behaviors-show pop-up menu, and I could easily create a horizontal or vertical menu that appears when you click or rollover the button.

Now I am using CS4 and their is no "show pop-up menu" when I go to behaviors. However, If you go to behaviors-depricated a menu appears with "show pop-up menu" option, but it is grayed out and not active.

Using spry seems to be much more complicated and there is no mention of how or where you can easily assign a pop-up menu to a button.

Seems like they made an easy task very complicated!

The interesting part is I can edit old files that have the pop up menu assigned to a button.

How do I un---depricate?;-) so I can Assign a pop-up menu behvior to a button usijng CS4? Spry does not seem to cover this? #*#*!

HELP!

Per Adobe (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-7af2a.html):

This behavior is deprecated as of Dreamweaver 9 (CS3) in favor of the Spry Menu Bar widget. To access the old Show Pop-Up Menu behavior, you must select the ~Deprecated menu item from the Add Behavior menu of the Behaviors panel. You cannot use the Show Pop-Up Menu behavior to create new pop-up menus; you can only use it to edit existing menus

When an option is deprecated it's usually because it uses non-standard coding, has other issues or just shouldn't have existed in the first place.
