View Full Version : trying to make a white to transparent gradient

hi, im having trouble making a white to transparent gradient overlay, i always get a grey about halway in. and also, when i do a marquee selection over my gradient shape and try to use the burn/dodge tool inside of it, it doesnt do anything, any help greatly appreciated. thanks. derek

Dodging and burning won't have any affect on white.

To make the gradient overlay:

Make sure white is your foreground color

Press the Add new fill or adjustment layer icon in the Layers palette.

From the pop-up menu select Gradient.

Choose the foreground (white in this case) to transparent option from the Gradient menu in the Gradient Fill dialog.

Set your other options.

Click OK.
