...why my bottlecap looks like a child did it?
simply because you haven't drawn it very well. I think you need more practice with the pen tool.

Do you understand how the nodes of a path work and how to edit them?

i do know how to edit them but i need practice. i found a better way to start, i use the elipse marquee tool for the top of the cap and give it a gradient, and for the pointed part of the cap i do on a layer underneath the marquee tool layer with the pen tool. the problem is that it wont let me fill the pen layer underneath the top layer. or at least, the fill doesnt show up on the top layer, it just shows up on the bottom layer. i dont know if that makes sense, any more help greatly appreciated. thanks. derek:confused:

ok here is a better version i did, all on one layer, first with the marquee tool top, with a gradient, then with the pen tool for bottom, carefully outlining the bottom circle again. i did add strokes, and fill, and burn and dodge tool for the pen area. then another elipse for the ad on it, with gradient, pen tool curve with text along it, and perspective text using text-rotate, then layer type convert to shape, edit transform perspective, then layer rasterize shape. and i wash finished. i did have to blur the edge of the pen tool and the circle top since i wasnt great with the pen tool . here are the better results. derek
