This is where I started: http://jonathanwold.com/tutorials/wordpress_theme/ - it looks like tons of work but is mostly copy and paste.

Get into it and start breaking it (just keep a copy of the files ;))

You need to strip out the files. This totally UNstyles wordpress - you can then start wrapping the PHP in divs of your choosing... :-D

OR you can start with an existing theme and make alterations to it.

Here are a couple that I have done: http://blog.wireroses.co.uk/ - destroybeforereading.com - I've working on others too, I love em !

There is tons of stuff to read too - how exciting ! http://codex.wordpress.org/Blog_Design_and_Layout

Ask questions - I have ALL the answers

i like the picture....

I am struggling changing the header imager.

I have replaced the image "kubrickheader.jpg" in the following location /blog/wp-content/themes/default/images

And nothing has happened. I have also followed the tutorial
http://codex.wordpress.org/Designing_Headers which DM suggested.

However i am not getting it.... HELP???!!!!!!!!

hmm... It's pulling the image from: transparent url(http://fit-camp-uk.co.uk/blog/wp-content/themes/default/images/header-img.php?upper=6F6958&lower=6F6958)

Personally? I would just delete that file. That should let your image show. I'm pretty brutal with these things - move it (but save it) and see if your image shows.

i tired deleting that file and the new image did not show. Is there something else stopping the new image from showing??

Odd - when I delete that link in firebug I see your image - have you followed the instructions on the wordpress site?

I don't go about it that way - I create a new CSS doc from scratch.

Hello Rob

Yes to the letter, i wanted just to change the branding on the site to the fit camps and then i was not going to tweak it too much... i don't really want to go down the creating new css as i wanted a quick and easy solution.

It seems it does not accept the image it just keeps the original. Is there somewhere in wordpress which cache's the images for a period of time or something....
