ive used several pngs and now i find that IE 6 and older doesnt support the transparency aspect. ive been reading about the AlphaImageLoader but im wondering if something simpler, perhaps more reliable is out there.

im debating switching over to all jpgs but i really like the transparency

No PNG support fix for IE6 works 100%.
With that said, you should try some of them and see if it works for you.

Dom is correct there are a few fixes and all of them have they're caveats. What you need to do though is have a look them and pick one that best suits what you are doing.

I have always been able to get things working in the end.

Some of the main problems are when you have links on the images and also the background repeat options don't work.

Try these though
