Hi,

Could someone please help me on this. I'm trying to update a template with a new drop down button. I am able to see this new menu when I save and only view the .dwt file. However, when I go to update the entire site with "Modify > Templates > Update Pages" I get a message saying "error accessing file....file not found" The .dwt file file is located within a "templates" folder in the root folder of all the other html files. Can someone please help me with this?

Thanks very much in advance!

Sean

Did you check the site definitions?

I think that would be the logical solution, but everything looks fine and nothing was ever changed...

Does anyone know what this means <html><!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/main.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" -->

I didn't create the site, I'm just updating it.

That code is your template code.

It sounds to me that your site definitions are wrong. Your site cannot find the template.

If it's where it's supposed to be (it's never been changed) Should I try putting it somewhere else?

PS. Thanks for the help so far!

The template location is not your issue.
If you template file never changed location, and the update is now not working, I think your site definitions got changed. I would look one more time into the site definition and make sure the paths are ok. Can you post a screenshot of it?

Where can I get that?

Errm, print screen > save as jpg > attach it to the forum :)

I hit the 'print screen' key on my keyboard and paste in my favorite graphics software.

sorry...I meant where can I see the "site definition and make sure the paths are ok" so I can screen capture it...is it in the coding or a menu, in the .dwt file or another page that uses the template file?

... if you don't know where it is, that is definitively what is wrong. :)
No screenshot needed. You can not just open a file in DW and start to edit it. Look in the help files/manual on how to set up a site ('site definition') for editing in Dreamweaver. All the information is in there.
This is the online version, I suggest you use the one that came with DW to make sure the manual is for your version:

It's pretty easy, go through a few steps and now DW knows where you site is and how all the links and the templates should be handled :)
