View Full Version : Applying frames to page

Hey all,

Long time no post, have been away from dreamweaver for a while now :). Anyway, Recently I've been asked to edit someone's page, a site that uses frames. I've never used frames before so I'm a little confused.

Anyway, I was just wondering how the hell am I supposed to put the left and top frames (which have already been made) into the current doc?

THe way the front page has been done, is there are two html files (the top and left frames), and a third which is the content of that page, and then a fourth where they're all together... I need to know how do that so I can make more pages with the frames that already been made... any advice?

Thanks all,

Frames suggest the site is ready for redesign, rather than you learn a defunct and problematic way of designing sites.

i see... things are quite problematic for me right now. I'm assuming it's not as simple to just insert existing frames into a blank HTML document like a template right?

see http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_frames.asp and
BUT the sooner you get away from frames the happier you'll be!!!

you need a frameset to contain all the frames (think of an actual window frame split into 3 panes of glass for example.)

Thanks Dave, I think you're right perhaps i'll just redo the site, won't take me that long anyway.
