ok, as im getting familiar with dreamweaver, i find it very nice and intuitive,
however, being new to web protocol, i need to know a couple of things.

what folder does my start page need to be in on my server?
does it matter what the page is called? :ie index.html, or Bolingart.html?
does it matter?

for example, i created a page the other day and was able to preview it in
my browser as i progressed. i think i moved the document and now i cannot preview the page. i hunted it down, deleted it, and started over. now no matter what the page is called (index.html / Bolingart.html) , i cannot preview it and when i try i get this from the browser > URL not found http://Bolingart.html not found on this server, even while staring at it's
directory through the ftp server interface in dreamweaver. im lookin
right at the document but the browser is telling me its not there.
did i just make a mistake by moving the document to another directory,
and if so, what directory should my html pages be in?

currently, they are in the httpdocs folder. mistake?
im confused....

by default index.htm,index.html, will be oped in any folder or directory if you prefer.
if you website is called www.mysite.com he by typing that address index.html will be opened. a page calle page2.html will have to be linked to.
http_docs is correct folder as the root folder of your site.
I personally never use DW to upload my file. I prefeer to use a seperate ftp program. Personally i use filezilla not every one agrees with this ill add before a discussion starts. I just feepl it is clearer to move my file around ,change permissions etc when i need to
