View Full Version : DW messes up style and size text!

11-07-2008, 05:15 AM
I am updating pages from my website in DW cs3. The pages were made with an older version of DW. It changes the size of text on several places, while I had fixed size (2) and font. If I want to change it back I cannot because it has changed style (I never used Style, only font and size!).

Most text in old pages is still shown as Size 2 and Style none. But some text has changed into style 4 or 26 or whatever.

What can I do to this?

update your pages. you could maybe use find and replace to make this easier

I would appreciate if you would be a bit more specific. How to find and replace?

sure its in top bar edit>find and replace.
Its difficult to say without seeing your site but honestly if you are up dating it would be wise to do it completely, as i use an external style sheet and format your text using css. then in the future any sitewide changes will be so much simpler.

Please explain WHAT I should find and replace. I am not experienced. I made a very simple site. I am merely trying to change some text (www.farmlator.hu) for the next season. But cs3 show text that has the same format (it also shows the same size and style) but on the screen some text is smaller then other. I think it's weerd.

if you just want to change font size you could -find
<font color="#006699" size="5"

and replace with
<font color="#006699" size="11pt"you have more errors though for example
<img src="file:///C|/Documents%20and%20Settings/Rob/Application%20Data/Macromedia/Dreamweaver%20MX%202004/Configuration/ServerConnections/Unnamed%20server/pic/spacer.gif" width="2" height="50">
as i said i would always advise css rather than inline styling

As Ed points out. The paths to your images are incorrect.

If I view your site on my computer it's looking for YOUR images on MY computer (file:///C...) That's your local drive.
You need to look into setting up your site in dreamweaver, then upload all the folders and files. The dreamweaver files are then looking for the images on the server you upload to (which will work) not your computer...

Take a look here > http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14028
Good luck and come back for more help anytime... :)

I might have forgotten to upload 1 or 2 pictures, but it can't be that you don't see any picture!

Thanks for the advise, I will dive into the tutorials before I will bother you again.

I might have forgotten to upload 1 or 2 pictures, but it can't be that you don't see any picture! That is not the problem, the problem is that you referring to images on your harddrive.
