Hi all
I'm new to the forums. Hopefully some one can help me.
I'm creating a web site and the client wants a log-in page.

It will only have one user name and one password.

I've created a log-in page using a Dreamweaver form
username:
pasword:
with a submit button underneath

I know nothing about databases or PHP...
Is there some basic code I can just cut and paste to put on my web page to make this work?
Or do I need to learn MySQL or other database program?

Thanks for any help you can give!

i suggest you use .htaccess to protect your site if there is only one account

this protects the directory so navigating to it access will be denied. You will be prompted for a Username and Password though.

You can set this up via your host console panel under Security Settings (< I'm guessing)

Thanks for the quick reply David.

Does that mean my web hosting provider would have some sort of screen asking users to log on first to be able to access the site?

you need to login to your control panel

the one where you administer your web space

you set this up from there

you may need to get help if your not confident with this
