I know I should probably put this in flash page but doesn't seem to be alot there so if anyone can anwser it would be nice. I have a fade in fade out pic that I want to put on site but not sure how to save as under preferences. What flash format/version so alot of people can view it without having the latest flash. Flash player 1.0 to 9.0 and if there is any quality difference.

flash draws graphics using a vector model engine

you are not seeing bitmaps. The swf transfers math coords and its the flash plug-in which interprets these numbers into a visual experience. The flash plug-in acts like an interpreter so this means that image quality is not lost across the flash version range.

i think that dropping to a version below the latest will catch the majority but note that if someone was to view your site with a lesser version of the flash plug-in they will be automatically prompted to get the latest.

I think DJ covers it... Go with the lowest version you can.
Flash will tell you if your movie is not compatible with that version.
