View Full Version : Dreamweaver VS Rapidweaver - Pros & Cons

I have been a rapidweaver user for the past 2 years. I think I am getting to the limits of what I can achieve with that software. The big question is does the $ spend merit the extra functionality? and will I need training to get stuck onto Dreamweaver properly?

answers on a postcard please!

If you know html and css, then DW is easy. If you don't know one or both then the learning curve can be pretty steep. I'd say try the DW 30-day trial, but with the release of CS4 the CS3 trial is no longer available, and I'm not sure when the CS4 trial will be. Maybe a couple more weeks?

what is it you hope to achieve?

W's rendering engine is accurate which cannot be said for DW. I use to use DW but use RW exclusively now (aside from hand coding). DW is too bloated for what it is.

DW uses webkit for rendering, which is the same as Google Chrome and Safari uses.

hi all again, and thanks for your replies.

My HTML is OK... not amazing, but OK. I do have a BASIC understanding...

digitaldesperad - I am taking it that you use Rapidweaver at a commercial level? If this is so then I may keep on going.

can someone tell me if the CS4 demo is out?

Adobe can notify (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=cs4_notify&loc=en_us&promoid=DTELW) you if you give them your email address.
