Hi all,

I have exported my DB from EMS and imported it via PHPmyAdmin on my hosting account.

I have made some adjustments to my DB in my local environment. Now when I try to import it to my host it keeps throwing up errors.

What is the best way to get DB changes made locally to the DB on the host.

Thanks guys, Paul

Thanks for the reply Edbr.

Dj, it depends on what I am doing or trying to change.

Exporting the DB from EMS creates a sql file that creates all so as the DB/tables already exist on the live server it will throw an error. ie. DB already exists or table already exists or duplicate erros.

Surely there must be a way to overwrite it or would I need to drop the tables on the live server before I import the amended sql file.

Regards, Paul

when exporting from EMS tick the DROP TABLES IF THEY EXIST box from the wizard

have to disagree here ed

phpmyadmin is one of the most clunky bits of software i have ever had the misfortune to use. Its not very intuitive and has a very busy UI which could be confusing.

maybe a personal choice but its not my cup of tea

Cheers Dj,

Worked a treat. The only extra thing I had to do was remove the 'create DB statement'.

Thanks again.

Its a DB creation tool. Highly recommended by Dj, you can download the freeware version here.

http://sqlmanager.net/en/products/mysql/manager/download

Excuse my double post,

But EMS is Awesome, one of my biggest problems is remembering queries and walla a favorite query section and its so much easier to use than phpmyadmin.

I love it
thanks
