View Full Version : Problem with predesigned CSS layout in Dreamweaver CS3

In Dreamweaver CS3 (on Windows) when I generate a fresh page from New Document (with no code modification), and view it in IE6/7 there is NO space between the Main Content and the header, but there is some white space in Firefox (see image below.)

I would have thought the bare pages generated from DW-CS3 would be identical in IE and FF, but they are not.

Does anybody have any insights? Thanks in advance!

It's not clear which starter page you're using. This doesn't occur with all of them. The problem would seem to be a lack of a specific top margin for the h1 text, so browsers are using their default margins.

You can try this:

#mainContent h1 {
margin-top: 0.5em;
}

Welcome the to the forums miner!
Dreamweaver is not like Photoshop, what you see is generated by code, without the code we cannot say for sure what is happening.

domedia - sorry, about that - I realise now I should have posted the code, in addition to the screen grab.

Cary - yes, that was it - I equalised the margin on h1 with:

h1
{
margin:0;
}

You know it looks like a collapsing margins..
