I have deleted the idea of trying for a fancy animation and have gone static instead. NOW my problem is the image is missing and the ? mark symbol is there instead.
I read the other posts and tried putting my images into an Image Folder and relinking, but to no avail

my url is www.artofmine.com
click on Paintings and it takes you to the problem

and here is the code I have at the moment
<div id="Layer3" style="position:absolute; left:7px; top:16px; width:565px; height:396px; z-index:1"><img src="/muskokapaintings.jpg" width="600" height="400" border="0" usemap="#Map2">

Thank you thank you

Me too. I really like your paintings by the way. :)

If my home wasn't a 1950s semi in dreary England, I'd commission one! :)

It seems it doesn't show in the test browser but works fine when I actually put the pages online.
THANK YOU Cary, ebr and Corrosive...and heh Corrosive thanks for the feedback on my paintings—surley there is something redeeming about your 1950's semi in England! : )

they had little going for them in the 50s, cant see them improving much :)
nice paintings but if i change the dogs i will have to get rid of my flying ducks, they kinda go together

Notice this bit here...

src="/muskokapaintings.jpg"

The slash tells the browser to look for the image in the root folder of the site (the link is root-relative). This works fine on the web because the image is in the root folder on the website, but it's not in the root folder of your hard drive when you view your local site, so the browser can't find it. DW knows where to look for it because your site definition tells DW which folder on your hard drive should be treated as the root folder for the site.

To preview your pages locally when they make use of root-relative links instead of document-relative links you can go to the "Preview in Browser" category in preferences and check the "Preview using temporary file" box.
