View Full Version : Photo album into on-line auction ads. Please Help!

Hello DW forum,
I'm trying to use a photo album in on-line auction ads made in DW 4.0 with the images hosted on my server. Ideally, I would like to incorporate a small thumbnail gallery with rollover behaviour such as can be seen here: http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menu/photo_simple.html

and here... http://www.dynamicdrive.com/style/csslibrary/item/css-popup-image-viewer/P200/

Firstly, can anyone recommend software that will quickly generate the thumbnails and all the links? I'm experimenting with Jalbum and Thumb Studio but not yet sure if these will make the rollover gallery.

Secondly, I've made a web photo album from the Commands/Create Web Photo Album menu which of course produces a neatly arranged package of thumbnails but on a new DW page. My question is, how do I integrate the album code into an existing DW page layout? Whenever I try to combine the photo album code with my auction ad page code all images disappear.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Oh yeah... is there any way to get rid of all those ghastly image numbers, like DSC0258545.jpg?

code needed the code from your album page. If the imaged\s disappear then it is the paths to the image files I would think, are the two pages in different folders?

Thank you edbr for the reply - that's definitely a step closer. Making the album in the same folder as my primary page allows me to paste the album body code into my primary page and have the images appear. One problem though is that I can't find the right place to put the code. When I put the code at some places the the design view either becomes very wide or the album is above or below where I want it. With practice I'll probably get it to fit.

The images will appear in the browser but the album menu has its own 'Home' link which is likely to leave many visitors stranded from the first page.

Still trying to get the rollover thing going though. Standard thumbnails will do the job but so far the DW album seems very clunky and dated.http://www.dreamweaverclub.com/forum/images/icons/icon11.gif

good start is to use code and view(split?) getting used to code is IMO important and not as daunting as it might seem at first

Post your code later if you cant get it right

Thanks again edbr!

Thanks again edbr! I've worked with code for years but not professionally - I'm definitely not a guru. I managed to strip down the code from the css rollover page mentioned above and plug it into my page. It's a mess but the rollovers work and I can probably get it to look better.

I've posted the code but it needs a lot more cleaning. A lot of it is not needed (permission is given by the author to use it.) If I can get this arranged to the right side of a layout table I think the rest will be easy.http://www.dreamweaverclub.com/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en"><head><meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /><title> Stu Nicholls | CSSplay | A simple photograph gallery</title><meta name="Author" content="Stu Nicholls" /><meta name="Keywords" content="cssplay, css, play, Cascading, Style, Sheets, opacity, layouts, navigation, menus, experiments, demonstrations, photo, photograph, gallery, slide, slideshow, picture, drop, down, pull, up, fly, out, free" /><meta name="Description" content="CSS - Cutting edge Cascading Style Sheets. these links to style sheets are wrong. they point to your computer and will not be correct if uploaded.

these are static links, I would think they should be dynamically generated otherwise change the image source to images you want

Hi edbr,
You are right about the links but after many hours and much mangling of code I decided to have a real coder make a custom template for me.

Your help had been very much appreciated!
