I am trying to access my FTP site using Dreamweaver 8 and having problems. The hosting server is Linux based so I'm not sure if that matters, but when it was windows based I didn't have a problem logging in.

Can someone please shed some light on this??

Thanks!!

Strange, no the type of server shouldn't have any bearing.

Are you sure the details are correct?

Have you tried a separate FTP client, such as Bullet Proof FTP or Transmit on the Mac?

You could try the IP address rather than the standard FTP, for example
rather than ftp.somehost.co.uk use 119.125.36.44

If you enter your FTP host into this site it will tell you both the IP address and if it can connect to it.

It's like saying "My car does not work. It worked yesterday. What is wrong" :-)
Can you please give some more information?

It's hard to say..........I was able to connect fine when the hosting server was windows and now that I switched it to Linux I can't connect. All the information I inputted seems to be fine, but when I go to connect it takes forever and then times out.
