I know this should be so easy, but I must be missing something.

I want to add some spaces in some text I am writing and when I hit the space bar nothing?

Any help appreciated.

Kerry

i think it's space bar and shift isn't it for a non-breaking space?

add   in code view where you want spaces

Tried that and it just showed the actually text? I should mention this is inside a DIV TAG - not sure that makes a difference??

Did you type this in code view or design view? If code view, then this is correct. It's code for a non-breaking space, and you can put several of them end to end to create the appearance of multiple spaces in a web page.

If you're in design view then typing that code won't have the desired result, so you'll have to use Dave's method. On my DW the shortcut is ctrl+shift+space to insert the code. Repeat that to create multiple spaces.

You can enter multiple real spaces in code view, but browsers and design view will only render a single space. If you try to enter multiple real spaces in design view, only the first one will have a visible effect.
