View Full Version : rollover stays on over state when I use back button

I pass my mouse over a rollover button and it changes from its 'out' to its 'over state'. Perfect.

I click it and it takes me to the proper link. Perfect.

I return to the original page using the browser's back button and instead of having the rollover back in its 'out' state, it's in its 'over' state. If I mouse over it and then out it returns to its 'out' state.

I'm on a Mac. It does this in Safari 3.1.1 and Firefox 2.0.0.16. On Opera 9.51 it stays in the 'over' state, but returns to 'out' as soon as the mouse leaves the browser's nav bar.

Here's the code:

<td valign="top" bgcolor="#F2311E"><div align="center"><a href="prints.html"><img src="images/prints_out.jpg" name="prints" width="67" height="34" border="0" id="prints" onmouseover="MM_swapImage('prints','','images/prints_over.gif','biobutton','','images/bio_out.jpg',1)" onmouseout="MM_swapImgRestore()" /></a></div></td>

I've looked in the forums and can't find a solution.
Thanks for any help.

Have you tested this on a server or locally?

It could just be an issue with the browser cache

Thanks Ricky55,

After reading your post I tested from two other Macs on the network reading off the one I'm using to build the site. I also tested on a PC doing the same thing.

On the PC the link states work fine. On the Macs I still have problems with the 'sticky' over state.

I'll be uploading to a hosting server soon and testing from there. Any recs for a good host? The site is just over 10MB and it's basically a portfoio of my design and illustration work.
