Hi Yall,

I wasnt sure were to stick this but I am curious to know how seo is affected by using php in this manner:

www.url.com/index.php?action=arcade
www.url.com/index.php?action=forums

Will the search engines pick up the different pages even though the page loads based of the action?

Thanks

as i see it the spider crawls the site following links on the page and will index URL query strings quite happily

example...
www.page.com/page2.php?var1=1&var2=2 (http://www.page.com/page2.php?var1=1&var2=2)

the spider will treat the URL querystrings as seperate Pages

If the page has to go and get some database stuff and takes too long the spider may index the page as inaccessible but it will give it a fair chance to return.

Cool there so much stuff about seo and alot of what i read is that you want all the pages to be a .htm file and index.php?var=var is not accepted.

Thats cool I didnt really feel like changing the links again lol.

there are warnings against too many "?var1=1,s", but max 3 is said to be acceptable.
i changed a site and had a large drop in visitors , i also dropped 2 page ranks , although i discovered it coincided with some sort of google re assesment(?) i then used a mod rewrite to make the .php pages appear as .html and my visitors figures increased after a while, from my own experience, i'm not sure what the real answer is but many high ranking sites arent affected by using php.

I mean truthfully this perticular project is "me learning how to play legos all over again", though I do want to incorporate some seo. Right now I have 2 in it, so I should be good so far, lol
