i am getting this error, everything is hosted on godaddy.com but for some reason nothing is coming up

Database connection failed: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

while using all of the same information and connecting to the localhost it runs perfectly any suggestions?

check the versions on your live and local environments

see if they are different

ok i used

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/old-client.html

and did the
mysql> UPDATE mysql.user SET Password = OLD_PASSWORD('newpwd')
-> WHERE Host = 'some_host' AND User = 'some_user';
mysql> FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

after this i updated my database on godaddy didnt do anything...I am not using an old version of mysql and when i clicked what version i was using in godaddy, i clicked 5.0( when checked in the advanced settings on godaddy there version is
<li id="li_server_info">Server version: 5.0.45-log<li id="li_mysql_client_version">MySQL client version: 5.0.27<li id="li_mysql_proto">Protocol version: 10
.

could this difference be a problem?
my current version is 5.051b
could any of this be a problem with my config.inc.php file not being shared right or not having the correct values?
