Hi everyone, this has happened to me everytime I try to work in dreamweaver! I made my sliced template in photoshop...I successfully get it into dreamweaver with a html file. When I created a div tag and tried to type....something happened. I previewed in the browser and my template is messed up! why is this? All I did was press the Enter key.

Please somebody give me some instruction on how to fix this.

I can't sleep because of this.

going to need some more info.

can you show us the web page and/or the code?

What is the problem your having? Are the images not aligning correctly?

Hi

I'm not sure why it happens but I have had similar experiences. Try holding down 'shift' when you press 'enter' when typing.

This might solve the problem...

...now go get some sleep!

I think you might be trying to type "on top" of an image...
Are you setting images in the cells or setting them as backgrounds ?

Hi guys, I've gotten some sleep (slept at 4am).

OK, hmm...more specific. hmm...well, I have a template. I wanted to add text on the homepage so I deleted the sliced image and then created a div tag at insertion point. Then, I replaced the image by clicking Background image. I tried to type and pressed enter. Actually the table looked weird...it wasn't a solid shape as I have priorly sliced in photoshop. It looked to be in 2 parts...so I clicked the extra box and deleted it - looked good because now it was one big text box.

I guess I did a hard return instead of a soft return (shift+return). Do we have to use a soft return everytime? How do I add padding around my text?

Even if I use soft return- if I press enter too many times and the cursor moves down, at some point the template will break.

I'm using Dreamweaver 8 on a mac.

I guess I didn't save and upload so my broken template doesn't look broken at the moment...but trust me, it will be when I type...

Sorry if what I wrote is confusing....but I'm confused.

Hi Rob, I'm not sure.... You see my gradient background? That's the image I'm having trouble with. when I click on the cell, I go to the bottom menu bar for "background" and inserted my background that way (my background is a gradient image). How do I insert my template background correctly and insert text onto it? I noticed that the problem happens when I try to add "padding" to the css file.

Here's the current code I have on my local view (haven't uploaded to server yet).
