Here is my blog integrated into my site:
BLOG (http://blog.doncasterlivemag.co.uk)
SITE (http://www.doncasterlivemag.co.uk/main.htm)

What do we think ?
I'm still working on the styles for sidebar & for the posts themselves.
I'm just really happy that I have it rolling.

One thing tho...
My design is CSS/HTML valid... (or will lbe ;))

But when the client is entering posts on the blog they are appearing as invalid HTML... I can't see a way to control it. Adding videos etc

Does this impact on the validity of the whole site ?

Hi Rob

Did you know that there is a kind of blue square behind the blog bit by the header bar? I wasn't sure if it was meant to be there or not. I am using IE6 because I'm at work. Site looking really good btw. I love the grungy design flavour. ha ha, Dillinger Escape Plan. Saw them in Bristol a couple of months ago and they were brutal :x . Love the EP they did with Mike Patton

I haven't debugged for IE6 yet... I'm heading there soon !
I have to use Browser Shots tho so it takes a while...
I havent had any joy with any IE6 sim's yet :S

Yeah, I use browsershots for testing. Not ideal but a good starting point. Maybe someday all browsers will be CSS compliant!! Good luck with the debugging fella. :-D

If I haven't told you before, I love that blog design. How's your skills resizing images and keeping them sharp? Some of the top images seems a tad blurry.

As far as HTML/CSS validation go, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The key role for validation is in development imho. Right now it's more important that it looks ok in browsers (how you can develop websites and not download IE6 is beyond me ;) ).

Thanks for the compliments - the images are fine :-D - at least I can't see a problem... maybe you need a screenwipe ? ha!

Corrosive: I'm looking forward to the blue box episode !

Honest answer - I can't ! :roll: It's a royal PITA !

I tried the virtual PC - downloaded 2 different versions (16 & 32 bit) and it says my operating system is not compatible!? I'm on XP home... I'm lost from there i'm afraid :confused:

Very possible :)

Aren't the people at Wordpress nice ?
All the sections of the posts are already in (unstyled) divs...
Firebug tells me what they're called and I set a style / BG whatever...

Genius! (them, not me)

OK - having an annoying problem now... :x

Take a look here: http://blog.doncasterlivemag.co.uk/
I've been trying to set a date tag up.
I have the correct position, correct font etc but cannot for the life of me
get the text to centre or position properly... margins / padding etc.

.post-date {
height: 69px;
width: 60px;
float: left;
display: inline;
margin: 0 10px 0 0;
background: url(http://www.doncasterlivemag.co.uk/images/wordpress/date-bg.gif) no-repeat;
}
.month {
text-align: centre;
font-family: Georgia,Times,serif;
font-size: 24px;
font-colour: FFFFCC;
margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
}
.day {
text-align: centre;
font-family: Georgia,Times,serif;
font-size: 32px;
font-weight: bold;
font-colour: FFFFCC;
margin: 0px 0px 0px 0px;
}

ALSO... I can only set the date in the most recent post... doesn't seem to show for the rest... any ideas ?

Cheers
Rob
