It will be a while before PHP6 is even in beta, most hosts have only just moved to PHP5, that took forever to arrive on production servers.

The main benefits of PHP6 seem to be namespaces, this was expected in PHP5 but never materialised. The other benefits are the dropping of POSIX regex in favour of PCRE, most people hate POSIX.

The main benefits though were certainly in PHP4 -> PHP5, I think PHP6 is more of cleaning deprecated functions up and eliminating register globals, magic quotes etc, all of which most people do anyway by turning them off.

It will certainly break many sites though unless they have some kind of backwards compatibility.

I'm sure PHP6 will also have some new functions, like PHP5 with its SPL and the filter, JSON functions amongst others.
