View Full Version : newbie and forms

I have built a website to sell embroidered clothing and it's all html pages, no database. I'm ready for a shopping cart and will probably go with paypal. Here's the newbie question: I need to add a form with drop down boxes for colors and sizes and some sizes will have a higher price. Does this get handled by me before I set up paypal and if so, do I have to use javascript or php...I can put the form on the page, but of course, I need to make it work.

Please guide me.

Thank you.

Like this? (http://www.perfectpixels.biz/DNT/mens.htm)
I just used the buttons generated by Paypal - ensure they're not encrypted (paypal will ask if you want to do this - click NO)

That way you can edit the code and change the vakues of the drop down boxes too... On mine it adds different amounts
depending on Shipping option. The form is real easy to use... Here's the

<select name="shipping" size="1">
<option value="3">UK
<option value="7">Europe
<option value="10">Worldwide

The 3 , 7 & 10 are costs in GBP. This code just goes within the form code and it picks up the costs.

Setting the prices is all done by you if you are using paypal. Using Paypal buy buttons really is very simple, you just insert a block of code that Paypal give you in the location where you want the button to appear.

The code looks like this:-

<form target="paypal" action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post">
<input type="image" src="http://www.yoursite.co.uk/images/buy_btn.jpg" border="0" name="submit" alt="Make a Safe & Secure Payment">
<img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypal.com/en_GB/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1">
<input type="hidden" name="add" value="1">
<input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_cart">
<input type="hidden" name="business" value="sales@yoursite.co.uk">
<input type="hidden" name="item_name" value="Dixie Musical Air Horns">
<input type="hidden" name="item_number" value="AH001">
<input type="hidden" name="amount" value="29.99">
<input type="hidden" name="shipping" value="9.99">
<input type="hidden" name="no_shipping" value="2">
<input type="hidden" name="return" value="http://www.yoursite.co.uk/payment_success.html">
<input type="hidden" name="currency_code" value="GBP">
<input type="hidden" name="lc" value="GB">
<input type="hidden" name="bn" value="PP-ShopCartBF">

Paypal will provide you with the code and you just edit the titles and amounts to suit.
